Austin Daily Tribune Building

The Austin Daily Tribune Building, located at 920 Colorado in Austin, Texas, is a notable example of Moderne architecture. Built in 1941 as the headquarters for the Austin Daily Tribune newspaper, which operated for only a year, the building was later acquired by the State of Texas in 1945 and renamed in honor of Texas Railroad Commissioner Ernest O. Thompson in 1965. Designed by architect Shirley Simons and the firm of Page, this historic site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring Texas's architectural and journalistic history.
