Smith Tower (1914 skyscraper)

Smith Tower was completed in 1914 and was one of the earliest skyscrapers in Seattle; at the time it opened it was among the tallest buildings west of the Mississippi. Its terra-cotta exterior, ornate interior finishes, and period elevators reflect early 20th-century commercial building infrastructure. The tower's observatory level has long been a public vantage point and the structure remains one of Seattle's oldest surviving high-rise buildings.
