Babbage Building

The Babbage Building, located at the University of Plymouth, England, is a modern teaching facility for the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, and the School of Art, Design and Architecture. Originally constructed in 1979, it underwent a significant £63 million renovation from 2019 to 2023, transforming it into a state-of-the-art space with 108,000 square feet dedicated to learning. Named after the pioneering mathematician Charles Babbage, the building features advanced fabrication and computing laboratories, larger windows, blue cladding, and a rooftop garden, all designed with low carbon technologies to minimize environmental impact. Officially opened on November 18, 2023, the Babbage Building represents a commitment to innovative education and sustainability at the university.
