William J. Reimbold House

The William J. Reimbold House, built between 1865 and 1867 in Nauvoo, Illinois, is a historic site that reflects the legacy of German immigrants who contributed to the city's development after the departure of the Mormons and Icarians. This unique house features an intact stone wine cellar, a remnant of the local winemaking industry that flourished during that era. It stands as one of the last two German immigrant homes in Nauvoo's Mormon Flat district, having survived a period of restoration that destroyed many others. The house is notable for its historical connections, including salvaged elements from the earlier home of Willard Richards, a close associate of Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith.
