Unisphere (1964 New York World's Fair)

The Unisphere is a 140-foot stainless steel globe constructed as the symbol of the 1964 New York World's Fair and installed in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park. The sculpture sits in the center of a circular reflecting pool and includes three orbital rings meant to represent the tracks of early satellites. The Unisphere has become an enduring icon of Queens and a common focal point for public gatherings and photography.
