Boston Bruins - first U.S. NHL franchise and early home at Boston Arena

The Boston Bruins were founded in 1924 as the first United States-based franchise in the National Hockey League. The team played its early home games at the Boston Arena (now Matthews Arena) before the Boston Garden opened. The Bruins’ founding established Boston as a major U.S. center for professional hockey.
