Kingsley Hall

Kingsley Hall is a historic community centre located in Bromley-by-Bow, London, established in 1915 by the Lester sisters, Doris and Muriel, in memory of their brother Kingsley. Originally a converted chapel, it served as a hub for social, educational, and recreational activities, promoting inclusivity across class and race. Notably, during the 1926 General Strike, it functioned as a shelter and soup kitchen. The Hall is also famous for hosting Mohandas Gandhi in 1931 and was pivotal in radical psychological treatments in the 1960s. Designated a Grade II listed building in 1973, Kingsley Hall continues to be a symbol of community spirit and social activism.
