Stjärnorp Castle

Stjärnorp Castle, located north of Lake Roxen near Linköping in Östergötland, Sweden, was constructed between 1655 and 1662 by Field Marshal Robert Douglas. Designed by Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, the castle features a striking four-story stone building with a tower and a roof terrace. A legend suggests that Douglas and his comrade Axel Lillie built their castles to communicate across the landscape. Although a fire in 1789 destroyed much of the castle, the chapel was restored and continues to serve as a parish church chapel since the formation of Stjärnorp parish in 1810. Visitors can appreciate the historical significance and scenic views of Lake Roxen from this remarkable site.
