Bugsy Siegel and the Flamingo

Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel financed and opened the Flamingo Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip in December 1946. The Flamingo, located at the same site as the modern Flamingo Las Vegas, is historically tied to Siegel’s development efforts and remains one of the earliest luxury resorts on the Strip. Siegel was murdered in 1947, less than a year after the Flamingo’s opening, but the property continued to shape Las Vegas resort development.
