Flood Building

The Flood Building is a historic 12-story high-rise located at 870 Market Street in San Francisco, California, completed in 1904 and designed by architect Albert Pissis. Surviving the 1906 earthquake and fire, it stands as a testament to the city's resilience. The building features a striking Baroque revival style with a sandstone façade and a grand lobby adorned with red marble columns. Once the largest building in San Francisco, it has housed various tenants over the years, including the Southern Pacific Railroad and the Pinkerton Detective Agency, where novelist Dashiell Hammett worked. Today, it remains a vibrant part of the downtown shopping district, with retail spaces that have hosted notable brands like Woolworth's and Urban Outfitters, while still being owned by the Flood family.
