Fort Lawton / Discovery Park

Fort Lawton was established as a U.S. Army post in 1900; many of its historic military buildings and landscapes are part of the Fort Lawton Historic District. Much of the former post property was transferred to the City of Seattle and is now Discovery Park, the city's largest park, which retains historic structures and interpretive resources documenting the site's military past. The Fort Lawton Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
