Golder Cottage

Golder Cottage, built between 1876 and 1877 by road builder John Golder, is one of the oldest colonial houses in Upper Hutt, New Zealand. This historic home, which served as the residence for Golder and his wife Jane Martin and their 12 children, offers a glimpse into colonial domestic life. After remaining in the Golder family for over a century, the property was acquired by the Upper Hutt City Council and is now managed by the Golder's Homestead Museum Society, which has renovated the cottage to serve as a museum.
