Frederick Nance House

The Frederick Nance House, also known as Oak Grove, is a historic brick plantation house located in Newberry, South Carolina, built between 1822 and 1825. It was owned by Frederick Nance, a notable local politician who served as Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina. This well-preserved example of antebellum plantation architecture features a rare surviving slave quarters, showcasing the historical context of the era. The house's design is attributed to the renowned architect Robert Mills and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, making it a significant site for tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
