Maynard Building

The Maynard Building, a five-story office structure in Seattle's historic Pioneer Square, was built in 1892 and showcases Romanesque Revival architecture designed by Albert Wickersham. Originally named the Dexter Horton Building, it served as the headquarters for Dexter Horton's banking business, which evolved into Seafirst Bank. The building is named after Doc Maynard, a key figure in Seattle's history. Notably, it stands on the site of a previous building that played a significant role during the Seattle riot of 1886. The Maynard Building underwent significant renovations in the mid-1970s, preserving its historical significance while adapting to modern needs.
