Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial - Stone of Hope

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial features a 30-foot sculpture called the "Stone of Hope" carved by Chinese sculptor Lei Yixin. The memorial's central design and quotations were inspired by King's 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech, including the phrase "Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope." The memorial was dedicated on October 16, 2011 and is located on the Tidal Basin between the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial.
