Sutro Baths ruins at Lands End

Adolph Sutro opened the Sutro Baths in 1896 as a large, privately built public saltwater swimming complex adjacent to Ocean Beach. The baths fell into disuse and much of the structure was destroyed by a 1966 fire; the concrete ruins remain and are part of the Lands End area within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The site includes interpretive signage and is a frequently photographed historic shoreline landmark.
