Rothko Chapel

Rothko Chapel is a non-denominational chapel commissioned by John and Dominique de Menil and completed in 1971. The interior contains 14 large, dark canvases painted by Mark Rothko specifically for the space. The chapel functions as a center for contemplation, interfaith programming, and public events and is widely cited as an important example of modern sacred architecture.
