Gene Kranz - Houston flight director

Gene Kranz served as a NASA flight director at the Manned Spacecraft Center (now Johnson Space Center) in Houston and led flight control teams during the Gemini and Apollo programs, including as a lead flight director during Apollo 13. He later served as director of Flight Operations at JSC and is a documented participant in Apollo-era mission control activities. The association of Kranz with the phrase 'Failure is not an option' is debated and was popularized by later media.
