Ford's Theatre

Ford's Theatre is the downtown theater where President Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865; Lincoln died the following morning at the Petersen House across the street. The site is preserved as the Ford's Theatre National Historic Site and includes a working performance venue and museum exhibits interpreting the assassination and Lincoln's presidency. The National Park Service manages the site and it hosts theatrical productions, tours, and educational programs.
