D'Youville Academy

D'Youville Academy is a historic school building and former nunnery located in Plattsburgh, New York. Constructed around 1878, this striking 2+1⁄2-story brick structure features a unique cruciform design, a rounded 2-story bay, and a distinctive five-gable roof dormer. Originally founded by the Grey Nuns, established by Saint Marie-Marguerite d'Youville, the Academy played a significant role in education until it merged with Seton Catholic Central High School. Today, the building has been repurposed into apartments, offering a glimpse into its rich history. It was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers.
