Glossop Road Baths

Glossop Road Baths, located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, is a historic building that originally featured a swimming pool and Victorian Turkish baths. Established in 1836 in response to a cholera epidemic, the complex underwent significant renovations between 1877 and 1879, adding an indoor swimming pool and a Turkish bath suite. The city council acquired it in 1898, enhancing the facilities with a ladies' bath. After a decline in the late 20th century, the baths were transformed into residential accommodations, while the main swimming pool area became 'The Swim Inn,' a Wetherspoons bar. The Victorian Turkish baths were modernized into Spa 1877, which reopened in November 2023 after a brief closure in 2019, making it a unique blend of history and contemporary leisure for visitors.
