Brendle Farms

Brendle Farms, also known as the Alexander Schaeffer Farm and Sheetz Farm, is a historic site located in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania. Established around 1750, this remarkable Swiss bank house features a large arched wine cellar and distillery. The property includes several historic structures, such as a bank barn from 1894, a stone pigsty dating back to 1740, and a limestone smokehouse. Visitors can explore the rich agricultural history of the area, as the site is part of the Historic Schaefferstown museum. Recognized for its historical significance, Brendle Farms was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, with the Schaeffer House on the Upper Farm receiving National Historic Landmark status in 2011.
