McKenzie & Willis Store

The McKenzie & Willis facade in Christchurch, New Zealand, is a historic building originally constructed in 1910 for a furniture retailer. Notable for its three-storey design with decorative stone veneer and columns, the facade wraps around a unique corner at High and Tuam Streets. After sustaining damage from the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes, the building was demolished in 2015, but its facade was preserved and restored as part of a new development. The restoration, completed in 2016, cost approximately $4 million and included earthquake-strengthening measures. The site is now part of the Innovation Precinct, reflecting the city's recovery and architectural heritage.
