French Pavilion of Versailles

The French Pavilion, built in 1750 for Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour by architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, is a stunning example of 18th-century French architecture located in the French Garden of the Petit Trianon at Versailles. This octagonal pavilion, adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, served as a music salon and social gathering place, designed to uplift the king's spirits. Its elegant interiors feature Corinthian columns and decorative panelling, reflecting the harmony between nobility and whimsy. After a period of decline, it was fully restored in 2008 and is now part of the Musée National des Châteaux de Versailles et de Trianon, offering visitors a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the French monarchy.
