Palais de Glace

The Palais de Glace is a stunning Belle Époque building located in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Inaugurated in 1911, it originally served as an ice skating rink and social club, modeled after the Palais des Glaces in Paris. The venue features a circular ice rink surrounded by elegant boxes and social rooms, all illuminated by a grand skylight. As ice skating waned in popularity, the Palais transformed into a prominent dance hall for tango, hosting renowned orchestras and dancers. Over the decades, it has served various purposes, including housing the National Office of Fine Arts and hosting the National Exhibition of Fine Arts. The building underwent significant renovations and was declared a National Historic Monument in 2004. Today, it continues to be a cultural hub, showcasing art exhibitions and musical events, making it a must-visit for tourists and researchers alike.
