Galveston Orphans Home

The Galveston Orphans Home, established in 1878 by George Dealey, is a historic site located in Galveston, Texas. Originally serving children in need, it evolved into a Protestant entity by 1880. The original Gothic revival structure, built between 1894 and 1895, was destroyed in the devastating storm of 1900. A charity effort led by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst helped fund its reconstruction, completed in 1902. The building was recognized on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 2013, it was purchased and restored by J.P. Bryan, and now houses the Bryan Museum, which opened in 2015, showcasing the rich history of Texas.
