Texas State Library and Archives - original Texas Declaration

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission in Austin houses original 19th-century Texas documents, including the 1836 Texas Declaration of Independence and other founding records. Many original documents are kept in archival storage and conservation environments, and access is provided through appointments or limited exhibitions. Because these are original state archival items, locating and viewing the originals requires coordination with archive staff and is not the same as visiting a general public exhibit.
