Ford Piquette Avenue Plant - birthplace of the Model T

The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant in Detroit was used by Ford Motor Company from 1904 to 1910 to manufacture early Ford models and to develop the Model T; production of the first Model T vehicles began there in 1908. The plant housed engineering and production work where many early automotive production techniques were refined before Ford moved larger-scale assembly elsewhere. The building is preserved as a museum and is listed as a National Historic Landmark. It is a documented site in the history of mass-production automobile development.
