Tunnels under the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway includes under-track passages that provide vehicle and pedestrian access between the infield and the outside of the 2.5-mile oval. These tunnels are used during events such as the Indianapolis 500 to move equipment, emergency vehicles, and personnel without crossing the racing surface. The under-track passages are noted features of the Speedway in historical accounts and facility tours.
