Swede Savage fatal crash (1973)

On May 30, 1973, driver John "Swede" Savage was critically injured in a high-speed crash and fire during the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Savage suffered severe burns and other injuries and died weeks later from complications related to the crash.
