Worcester Corset Company Factory

The Worcester Corset Company Factory, located at 30 Wyman Street in Worcester, Massachusetts, is a historic site with roots dating back to 1861. Originally established by David Hale Fanning, the factory transitioned from making hoops for skirts to producing corsets, becoming a major employer in the area with over 2000 female workers at its peak. The factory, designed by Arthur F. Gray, features structures built from 1895 to 1909 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. After ceasing corset production in 1940, the site was repurposed for manufacturing military boots and is now an apartment complex, offering a glimpse into the industrial history of Worcester.
