Isaiah Davenport House

The Isaiah Davenport House, built in 1820 in Savannah, Georgia, is a prime example of Federal-style architecture and serves as a historic house museum operated by the Historic Savannah Foundation since 1963. Originally the home of master builder Isaiah Davenport and his family, the house transitioned from a family residence to a boarding house after Davenport's death. Over the years, it fell into disrepair but was saved from demolition by community efforts. Today, visitors can explore the restored first, second, and third floors, which feature period-specific furnishings and decor, providing an authentic glimpse into early 19th-century life. The museum has received several accolades, including the Preserve America Presidential Award and the Georgia Governor's Award in the Humanities.
