Derzhprom

Derzhprom, located on Freedom Square in Kharkiv, Ukraine, is a remarkable Constructivist office building completed in 1928, recognized as the first modern skyscraper in the Soviet Union. Designed by architects Sergei Serafimov, Samuel Kravets, and Mark Felger, it showcases innovative use of concrete and overhead walkways, symbolizing the industrial progress of the era. Once the most spacious structure in the world, it has been a significant cultural icon, featured in films and serving as a center for industrial management. Despite suffering damage during the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2024, Derzhprom remains a symbol of Kharkiv's modernity and is under consideration for UNESCO World Heritage status.
