Plaza del Mercado de Ponce

Plaza del Mercado de Ponce, also known as Plaza del Mercado Isabel II, is a historic marketplace in Ponce, Puerto Rico, inaugurated in 1863. Designed by engineer Timoteo Luberza, it was modeled after Paris's Les Halles and was the largest marketplace in Puerto Rico at its inception. The plaza has undergone several renovations, enhancing its architectural styles from Neoclassical to Art Deco. Today, it houses 65 kiosks and serves as a vibrant venue for festivals and community events, while still preserving its original structure amidst modern updates.
