The Gum Wall in Post Alley

The Gum Wall is a brick wall in Post Alley beneath Pike Place Market that became covered with chewed gum beginning in the 1990s, reportedly from theatergoers and market visitors. It developed into a noted and unconventional tourist attraction and community landmark in downtown Seattle. The wall was power-washed in 2015 to remove the gum but has since accumulated new layers of gum and remains a distinctive feature of the alley.
