Cathedral of Junk

The Cathedral of Junk is a large, evolving backyard folk-art installation assembled from discarded materials by artist Vince Hannemann beginning in the 1980s. The multi-story structure occupies a private residential lot and is known for its dense assemblage of metal, bicycles, ceramics, and other found objects arranged into rooms and towers. Visits are typically by appointment or during limited open days organized by the owner. The site is frequently cited in coverage of Austin's outsider-art scene.
