Old Stone House - Washington’s oldest unchanged building

Built about 1765, the Old Stone House in Georgetown is the oldest unchanged building standing in Washington, D.C. The small stone dwelling survived Georgetown’s 18th- and 19th-century development and urban renewal of the 20th century. It is operated as a historic house museum by the National Park Service and displays period rooms and archaeological findings tied to its long domestic history. The structure is frequently cited in histories of the city as the oldest extant house within the District.
