Block 11

Block 11 is a significant structure within Auschwitz I, serving as a central facility for torture and executions during the Holocaust. Known for its grim history, this brick building housed special torture chambers and was the site of the infamous 'Death Wall,' where thousands of prisoners faced execution by firing squad. Visitors can learn about the harrowing conditions prisoners endured, including confinement in small standing cells and extreme interrogation methods, such as the 'Boger Swing.' Notably, Block 11 was also the location of the first experiments using Zyklon B for mass killings in September 1941, marking a dark chapter in human history.
