Bay to Breakers road race

The Bay to Breakers is an annual footrace in San Francisco first held in 1912; its traditional course runs westward from the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building across the city to the Great Highway. The event is known for large fields of runners, many in costumes, and has been organized by different promoters while remaining a distinctive civic athletic event. The race has been both a competitive road race and a popular city festival for over a century.
