Blackburn House (Athens, Alabama)

The Blackburn House, also known as the Blackburn-Mastich House, is a historic residence located near Athens, Alabama, built around 1873. This one-and-a-half-story Saltbox-style house features an elegant Italianate portico supported by four chamfered edge columns. Visitors can admire the distinctive two-over-two sash windows that adorn the house, along with small casement windows in the attic. The interior follows a center-hall plan with four rooms on the ground floor and two on the upper floor. After its restoration in the early 1980s, the house has been transformed into an antique store, making it a unique destination for both tourists and researchers interested in historic architecture. The Blackburn House is recognized for its historical significance, being listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1983 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
