Cleydael

Cleydael, also known as Quarter Neck, is a historic house located near Weedonville in King George County, Virginia. Built in 1859, this two-story, five-bay frame dwelling features a distinctive standing seam metal gable roof and a charming wraparound porch. The house was the summer residence of Dr. Richard H. Stuart, the wealthiest resident of King George County. Notably, on April 23, 1865, Dr. Stuart famously refused accommodations and medical treatment to John Wilkes Booth. Cleydael was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history.
