Gunther Building (Broome Street)

The Gunther Building, located at 469 Broome Street in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood, is a historic commercial structure completed in 1871. Designed by Griffith Thomas, it features a striking white facade, ornate Corinthian columns, and a unique curved glass corner. Originally a warehouse for textiles and furs owned by furrier William Gunther, the building now serves as a co-op for artists and architects, with notable former resident Lenny Kravitz. Recognized for its architectural significance, it is part of the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. A major restoration project completed in 2001 enhanced its historic features, earning an award for excellence in preservation.
