Block 185

Block 185, also known as Sail Tower, is a striking high-rise office building located in Downtown Austin, Texas, at 601 W. 2nd St. Standing at 594 feet, it is the fourth tallest building in Austin and the tallest office tower in Texas outside of Houston and Dallas. The tower, completed in 2022, features a unique architectural design that resembles a sailboat, with a glass façade that curves elegantly away from Shoal Creek. Originally part of a site designated for a penitentiary in the 1839 Austin plan, the land later became the Green Water Treatment Plant before its redevelopment. Google has leased the entire building, although it remained unoccupied until late 2025 due to delays. Block 185 is a prominent landmark in Austin's Second Street District, showcasing modern design and significant historical transformation.
