John Brown's Fort

John Brown's Fort, built in 1848 in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, originally served as a guard and fire engine house for the federal armory. It gained historical significance during John Brown's 1859 raid aimed at abolishing slavery, becoming a symbol of the fight for freedom. The only surviving structure from the armory, the fort has been relocated multiple times, including to the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
