Kanbawzathadi Palace

Kanbawzathadi Palace, located in Bago, Myanmar, was originally built in 1556 for King Bayinnaung of the Taungoo dynasty, a significant period in Burmese history. The palace, known for its grandeur, was destroyed in 1599 but was reconstructed between 1990 and 1992, closely following its original design. Visitors can explore the ornate architecture, including the Great Audience Hall, which features rows of gilded pillars and replicas of royal thrones. The palace grounds also host the Nandawya research museum, showcasing artifacts from the excavations, including ancient coins and Buddha images. This site offers a glimpse into the opulence of the second Burmese empire and the legacy of one of Burma's greatest rulers.
