Beverley Friary

Beverley Friary, also known as The Old Friary, is a historic site in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, featuring a mix of brick and stone buildings that date back to the 13th century. Originally established as a Dominican priory around 1240, it flourished until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539, when many structures were demolished. The surviving guesthouse, which escaped destruction, has been repurposed over the centuries and is now a Grade II* listed building. Since 1984, it has served as a youth hostel, attracting visitors interested in its rich history and architectural significance. The site also offers insights into medieval monastic life and has undergone preservation efforts to maintain its historical integrity.
