Ordubad Buzkhana

Ordubad Buzkhana is a historic ice house located in Ordubad, Azerbaijan, dating back to the 14th century. As one of the largest ice houses in the region, it features an impressive design with a total area of 166 m2 and a height of 11.32 meters. The structure includes five domes, a large central hall, and a cellar for ice storage, all built from baked bricks and a lime-clay mixture. Originally constructed for commercial use, it served the local community by preserving food and belongings from the summer heat. The ice house underwent restoration in the 18th century and was revitalized in 2014, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in Azerbaijan's architectural heritage and historical practices.
