Smith Warehouse

Smith Warehouse is a historic tobacco storage facility in Durham, North Carolina, built in 1906. This impressive two-story Romanesque-style brick structure, measuring 850 feet long and 100 feet wide, features 12 distinct units and intricate ornamental brickwork. As the last of the tobacco warehouses constructed by The American Tobacco Company trust, it showcases unique 'slow burn' masonry and wood construction techniques. Today, the warehouse has been repurposed for academic and administrative functions and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in industrial history.
