C.D. Bevington House and Stone Barn

The C.D. Bevington House and Stone Barn, located in Winterset, Iowa, are significant historic structures dating back to the mid-19th century. Built in 1856, the house showcases vernacular Gothic architecture with distinctive Gothic windows and intricate bargeboards. Originally a pharmacist who struck gold in California, C.D. Bevington settled in Winterset, where he became a real estate agent and farmer. The accompanying stone barn, constructed from coursed rubble limestone, features horse stalls and a hay loft. Both buildings were recognized for their historical importance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
