Temple Israel (Paducah, Kentucky)

Temple Israel is a historic Reform Jewish congregation located in Paducah, Kentucky, with roots dating back to 1864. The congregation, which currently consists of 32 families, has a rich history, having originally been chartered as Kehillah Kodesh Bene Yeshurun in 1871. The synagogue was once housed in an elaborate Moorish Revival-style building designed by Brinton B. Davis in 1893, which featured distinctive onion domes and was a significant architectural landmark until its demolition in 1963. The current synagogue, dedicated in May 1963, reflects the community's enduring spirit and commitment to Jewish traditions.
